Facts about the community

Woodbridge is located about 20 miles south of DC on I-95.  It is bounded by the Potomac on the east and the Occoquan River on the north.  It is unincorporated, so it is managed by the county government.  The church draws people from the following surrounding communities:  Lake Ridge, Montclair, Westridge, Dale City, Dumfries, Triangle, Quantico, Stafford, and Manassas.  Woodbridge consists primarily of neighborhoods, but the central feature of the area is Potomac Mills, a large outlet mall that has been the top tourist attraction in the state in recent years. Numerous shopping centers and restaurants surround the mall.  Many new housing developments are being built around the area.  Many historical sites and tourist attractions are within 30 miles.  About half the work force commutes to work outside the county.

Population:  County = 280,813 (2000); 384,000 by 2020; Communities near the church = 133,000 (1999).

Age:  According to the 2000 Census, 30.4% of the total County population is under 18 years of age. Approximately 4.8% is aged 65 and over. The median age of the population is 31.9 years. Reflecting similar nationwide trends, Prince William County’s population has aged slightly over the last decade. In 1990, the County’s median age was 29.1 years.
